Dear Senator McConnell and Representative Boehner,

On behalf of limited government conservatives everywhere we write to urge you and your colleagues in Washington to put forward a legislative agenda in the next Congress that reflects the principles of the Tea Party movement.

Poll after poll confirms that the Tea Party’s laser focus on issues of economic freedom and limited government resonated with the American people on Election Day.

The Tea Party movement galvanized around a desire to return to constitutional government and against excessive spending, taxation and government intrusion into the lives of the American people.

The Tea Party movement is a non-partisan movement, focused on issues of economic freedom and limited government, and a movement that will be as vigilant with a Republican-controlled Congress as we were with a Democratic-controlled Congress.

This election was not a mandate for the Republican Party, nor was it a mandate to act on any social issue, nor should it be interpreted as a political blank check.

Already, there are Washington insiders and special interest groups that hope to co-opt the Tea Party’s message and use it to push their own agenda – particularly as it relates to social issues. We are disappointed but not surprised by this development.

We recognize the importance of values but believe strongly that those values should be taught by families and our houses of worship and not legislated from Washington, D.C.

We urge you to stay focused on the issues that got you and your colleagues elected and to resist the urge to run down any social issue rabbit holes in order to appease the special interests. The Tea Party movement is not going away and we intend to continue to hold Washington accountable.

Sincerely,

Representatives of the loosely organized tea party movement urged GOP leaders in a letter released Monday to abandon their fronts in the culture wars – issues such as gay marriage, school prayer, and abortion – and instead focus their new electoral power on individual liberties and "economic freedoms."

Yes, they are. I hope the self serving bastards that are currently in the GOP get the boot just like many of the democrats did in the last election. I have no allegiance to a political party, mine lies with my family and my country. Neither of which are having their best interests served by the jackasses in DC.

Boehner, especially, seems to have made an accommodation with the House Democrat leadership: that he will not do anything 'extreme' about the huge deficit, or defunding ObummerCare, and in turn, the left will not make him a target, as they did Newt....

While this is doubtless in the best interest of Speaker Boehner, it most assuredly not in the interest of the American people or the country, sonorous sound bites aside....

I note that not a single major politician, of either party, has so much publicly suggested the reduction, much less elimination, of a single Federal program, Agency, or Department....

I agree with both of you.

And when we can come to agreement at this level it does not bode well for the Politicians.

I hope the hard left and hard right can turn off that switch that keeps them from accepting the fact that except for a few good men in the middle, nothing is getting done, and 'Gotcha' politics may play with the fringe, but those of us in the middle, who do not want to see regulations and excessive taxes hurt entrepreneurship or opportunity any more than we want to see grandma eating Alpo or our Vets sleeping on the streets while extremists push constitutionally ambiguous legislation that is not helping America, are beginning to run out of patience.

Sean, you and everyone else need to wake up to what is really happening in this Country. Yes the Tea Party Republicans did get a big win. The problem is that you have been fooled and lied to about the real reason behind the Tea Party. They are out to make sure that their is no support for the Democratic Party. Just take a look around at what is happening. While Congress can't agree on the budget, whats going on behind the scenes. It was supposed to be that everyone would be focused on the Federal Budget issues and not pay attention to the Individual State having non budget issue bills forced into law. Sorry, but people were paying attention. Once the Tea Party Repo's can get democrats out, then they will be in total control. What do you think will happen then?

If you all are for getting government out of our lives then you must also be against marijuana prohibition. Good for you! We CAN agree on something.

Actually I am not for legalizing pot completely. I support medical use and decriminalizing moderate amounts but there are other factors too consider

Since it's been brought up, I'll add my two cents. I'm for ending the prohibition on pot. However, I'm also for ending the prohibition on all drugs. I think allowing the burnouts to expose themselves and the crackwhores/tweekers/cokefiends etc to OD is a positive for everyone.

Perhaps it is the teafolk who need to realize that they don't have the people behind them and that they are just the far right branch of the GOP.

I agree, TheJonesGirl, the Tea Party seems to be under the impression that they own the US government and can dictate what it should and should not do according to their specific political agenda and beliefs. They have no interest in what is really good for America, only if it fits their political and personal agenda.

Their aim is to return the country to the 1800's and adherence only to the parts of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights they agree with, and of course, religious control of everything and everyone via the Government dictates. While they say this is not their aim, their actions speak for themselves, and especially, at their conference in Arizona recently, where they threatened many of the politicians that they helped get elected that they would be looking for replacements who were more willing to follow through with the Tea Party agenda. So, they are about as honest and trustworthy as the rest of the Republicans, who are also liars and hypocrites.

Whether you lean to The Left or to The right is not what's important. Being American transcends politics religion or ideology.

We need to be polarized politically because it is in the midst of that polarity that we evolve as a people.

That means we will and should vote differently and follow our left or right paths, because it is the diverseness of our ideas that keep the entire system from tipping too far in either direction.

We all have a moral compass and we all lean either left or right, but so long as we never allow partisanship to override our Constitution and our better judgement or the ingrained sense of what is right and what is wrong we can never lose our American spirit

But there are evil men among us of vast wealth and power who do not care about our politics or religion and they do not possess our values and code. But they will play to ours in an effort to manipulate us.

They will cater to what they think can fool you or use tricks of politics or religion and evil agents to try to confuse us.

That Spirit, that Americanism makes you better than they can ever be. And drives them mad, because those things; the boosum of your family, the fraternity of your friends the laughter of your young ones, the freedom of America and our traditions they cannot attain in spite of the wealth and power because they lost their souls long ago.

That does not mean all rich men are like this, many are good, but never doubt that there are those men among us capable of great evil who are constantly at work to satisfy their own personal agenda and to undermine that which they fear most.

    A free empowered America

And while all good men can make bad decisions we cannot be bought, and as much as some of these people will deny it they can never take away from you that which is uniquely yours; your American spirit
